Energy-efficient laser cutting system equipped for compressed-air cutting

The BySprint Pro 3015 from Bystronic Inc. employs the Bylaser 4.4-kW laser source with wear-free, solid-state power supplies and a magnetic-bearing turbine.

According to the manufacturer, the system's electrical power consumption is lowered because of the high efficiency of the laser source and because the excitation is switched off automatically when the protective door is opened and when the machine is on standby.

The laser system is equipped for compressed-air cutting, and when that is combined with the 3.75-in. cutting head, cut times on thin sheet metal can be reduced by between 15 and 40 percent as compared with its 5-in. counterpart, the company says.

The laser can handle both thin sheet metal and thick plates.
