Software offers visualization, analysis of large 3-D CAD models

Kisters has introduced release 2015.1 of the 3DViewStation. The new version, designed to optimize the handling of extremely large assemblies, features enhanced analysis functions. It handles such CAD formats as CATIA®, NX™, Creo®, SolidWorks®, JT™, 3D-PDF, and STEP and offers functional tools to view, analyze, and communicate 3-D data.

The model tree has been replaced to accelerate selections in extremely large assemblies. This improves filtering and isolation of large assemblies, such as selecting 5,000 parts of a specific color in a 100,000+ parts assembly. The filtering has been cut down to fractions of a second, the company states.

A wall thickness analysis displaying color gradation based on the ray method has been added. Calculation of volume and surface will no longer be performed during loading but now is accessible via a menu item.
