Electrode designed for large structural and offshore applications

Select-Arc Inc. has introduced an all-position, flux-cored, gas-shielded electrode designed for welding HSLA steels such as HY-80. The new Select 550Ni is developed to maintain a yield strength of 80 KSI and impact toughness at –76 degrees F.

The wire produces minimal spatter emission on 100 percent CO2 shielding gas and offers a deep, penetrating arc that reduces the potential for lack of fusion, states the company.

It is available in a 0.045 in. dia., suitable for large structural fabrication including lifting equipment, jack-up rigs, and shipbuilding.
