Lightweight welding torch withstands harsh impacts

The new PullMig push-pull welding torch from Fronius, which weighs 3.5 lbs., can survive a fall from almost 10 ft. completely unscathed, says the company. A stainless steel outer tube and an antitwist device in the zero position help ensure that the torch neck, which rotates through 360 degrees, remains stable in the event of extremely harsh impacts to the workpiece.

Several design changes have improved thermal dissipation while also reducing the absorption of arc radiant heat. This means that the welding torch remains cooler overall than its predecessors, and the gas nozzle can be handled without gloves about 1.5 min. after welding (500 amps).

The user no longer needs to open the handle to thread a new wire. Synchronization of the feeder motors is handled automatically by the power source.

The compact brushless servomotor offers precision and control. The motor is equipped with an actual value transmitter and is connected to the power source via a high-speed bus.
