Hypertherm has introduced SilverPlus® electrodes for its HyPerformance® family of systems. Designed to extend electrode life, the electrodes are available in three different amperages: 130, 200, and 260.
The electrodes are created by fusing a solid silver tip onto a copper electrode base and then inserting a hafnium pin into the tip. Because silver disperses heat better than copper, the hafnium wear rate is slowed significantly, the company reports. In addition, a good bond between the hafnium and silver enables consistent wear rates, deep pit depths, and the robustness to reduce errors and hard failures.
