Self-shielded, flux-cored wires have new packaging design -

Hobert Brothers now offers its Hobart® Fabshield® XLR-8 and Fabshield XLNT-6 self-shielded, flux-cored wires in a new packaging design. Each package features a screen-printed box with the product logos, along with wire parameter information to assist users in proper welding procedure. The new packaging also helps differentiate between the two wires with a quick glance.

The XLR-8 wire offers all-position welding capabilities and low-hydrogen weld deposits. It can produce vertical-up welds at high current levels. The wire is available in 0.0625-, 0.072-, and 0.078-in. diameters.

The XLNT-6 wire has been designed for flat and horizontal welding applications and provides high deposition rates and excellent arc stability, the company reports. Its tensile strength is 87,200 PSI. The wire is offered in 0.078- and 0.093-in. diameters.

According to the manufacturer, both wires offer excellent slag removal along with high impact strengths at low temperatures and are designed to improve productivity on heavy equipment, barge or tank fabrication, field repair applications, structural steel erection, bridge construction, and ship fabrication.
