Wire feeder has improved duty cycle

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced its SuitCase™ X-TREME™ 12VS voltage-sensing wire feeder. Compared to the previous model, the new model features an improved contactor for higher duty cycle, now 425 amps at 60 percent.

The feeder also features a Soft Start™ run-in control, a potted and trayed main printed circuit board for improved durability, and a double-filtered gas valve that helps keep dirt from affecting gas flow.

The feeder weighs 35 lbs., holds wire spools up to 12in. (45 lbs.), and features SunVision™ digital meters that display voltage and wire feed speed or amperage and are visible even in direct sunlight. Its two fully driven drive rolls accept solid wires from 0.023 to 5/64 in. and cored wires from 0.030 to 5/64 in. The company recommends that the feeder be paired with Bernard Q-Gun and Centerfire™ consumables.

The feeder operates on arc voltages from 14 to 48 VDC, with a maximum OCV rating of 110 VDC, and can be connected to both constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) power sources.

The feeder is not polarity sensitive and requires no switching to change polarity. Trigger hold is standard. Optional controls include preflow and postflow.

The feeder has a polypropylene case and is suitable for use in construction, shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing, and rental applications.
