Hole saws allow quick, clean hand drilling of metal

CS Unitec’s new hole saws are suitable for cutting in tight spaces where a magnetic drill cannot fit and for cutting material too thin for a magnetic drill to attach. Designed for use with hand-held drills, the tungsten carbide-tipped (TCT) hole saws cut clean, fast holes without grinding the core. The TCT cutting edges last longer than bimetal edges, says the company, and can be run at high speeds.

The 1-series hole saws include a center pilot drill for cutting holes up to 1 in. deep, with diameters from 0.5625 to 4 in. Cutters up to 3.25 in. dia. feature a 0.375-in. shank, while cutters with diameters of 3.3125 and larger feature a 0.5-in. shank.

The 2-series heavy-duty hole saws feature a spring-loaded pilot pin to eject the slug. The milled 3-flat shank fits 0.5-in. chucks. The 2-series hole saws are available in diameters from 0.5625 to 1.375 in. and drill up to 0.5625 in. deep.
