Aluminum oxide option added to abrasive wheels

Norton | Saint-Gobain has introduced an upgrade to its Norton Gemini RightCut wheels, providing an aluminum oxide (A/O) option for cutting steel and ferrous metals. The wheels offer long life and fast cut with high stability and a narrow pass, the company states.

The latest-generation wheels are 100 percent A/O abrasive, infused with a new bond technology and process for a thinner wheel design and low kerf loss. Strong, extra-thin 0.045-in. wheels result in decreased material waste and quick cutting action, the manufacturer reports.

Providing a clean, precise, straight, burr-free cut, the wheels offer up to 20 percent faster cutting than a standard wheel, says the company. Wheel usage extends up to 70 percent more than conventional wheels, according to the manufacturer, and the wheels require less pressure while cutting for increased operator comfort.
