Combination fiber laser/punch processes metals up to 0.25 in. thick

TRUMPF’s TruMatic 6000 fiber laser/punch combination machine offers laser cutting, punching, forming, and engraving of sheet metal up to 0.25 in. thick. It is designed for scratch-free processing, while a laser output control system helps ensure quality when cutting delicate curves and tight radii.

The system features a TruDisk 3001 solid-state laser, 20 tons of punching force delivered at 1,000 SPM, and dynamic drives. When cutting galvanized mild steel and stainless steel, the solid-state laser’s processing speeds are up to six times greater than with a CO2 laser of the same power, according to the manufacturer. It also processes such materials as copper, brass, and aluminum.

When a punch breaks, the smart punch monitoring function detects the break, stops the machine, and notifies the operator. The smart load function automatically aligns the sheet on the machine, while the smart unload function optimizes the removal process. The machine also can recognize if a part is stuck in the skeleton; if it cannot be removed automatically, the machine will stop to avoid collision.
