Nozzle allows for high-speed plasma cutting

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced the new XR series of high-speed cutting nozzles for its m3 Plasma™ system.

According to the company, the nozzles help increase cutting speed and extend dross-free cutting. Nozzle cooling is improved, which helps extend consumable life. Piercing performance also is improved to allow for the cutting of thicker plate.

The 260-amp nozzle can cut as much as 45 percent faster than previous PT-36 nozzles, while the new 360-amp nozzle reaches speeds up to 80 percent faster than formerly possible.

The nozzle features an extended water cooling surface, so that more of the nozzle is in contact with cooling water closer to the nozzle tip. A new nickel-plated shield retainer and two new nickel-plated shields help shed pierce spatter and resist front-end damage when piercing thicker plate.
