3-D color laser scanner introduced

FARO Technologies Inc. has developed a new system for 3-D laser scanning in color.

The FARO Laser Scanner LS is a portable, computerized measurement device that scans, digitally recreates, and records all of an object or area's dimensions, creating what looks like a photograph on the computer screen, but in 3-D. The captured data can be used to create a digital model for inspection, reverse-engineering, CAD-to-part comparison, factory planning, or investigations for industries ranging from power, process, and piping to forensics, surveying, and historical preservation.

When combined with the specially calibrated Color Bracket, new Nikon D200, and FARO Scene v4.1 software, the laser scanner provides:
