Portable measurement arm/laser probe available in three working volumes

Faro Technologies Inc. has introduced the Faro Edge portable measurement arm and V4 laser line probe.

The portable measurement arm allows manufacturers to verify their product quality by performing inspections, tool certifications, CAD-to-part analysis, and reverse engineering via hard probing and noncontact laser scanning.

The arm features an integrated personal measurement assistant. With its built-in touchscreen and onboard operating system, the arm provides stand-alone basic measurement capability. A laptop is not needed to perform simple dimensional checks or to optimize system performance with the arm’s onboard diagnostic routines.

Available in three working volumes, the arm features seven axes of rotation to help ensure flexibility for various jobs.

The measurement arm connects to Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi®, USB, and Ethernet. Multiple devices can be managed through networking. Improved sensors warn against excessive external loads, correct for thermal variations, and detect possible setup problems.

The probe features a wide laser stripe to increase scan coverage while maintaining accuracy. Variable capture rates can produce more than 45,000 points per second. The probe integrates seamlessly with the measurement arm.
