Grinders made for high endurance

Fein Power Tools Inc. has introduced a new series of standard, single-speed angle grinders suitable for rough grinding, particularly in fabricating applications and construction sites.

Three models are available. The single-speed Solid is suitable for deburring, grinding, and cutoff work; the single-speed Power is designed for roughing down and cutoff work; and the variable-speed Inox is made for stainless steel processing.

The double-insulated, high-endurance motors feature sealed, high-copper windings. Power consumption is from 6.7 to 12.5 amps and 800 to 1,500 W under a full load. No-load speeds are 11,000 RPM (Solid), 8,500 to 11,000 RPM (Power), and 2,500-7,900 RPM variable (Inox).

They have all metal gear heads and a connecting piece where the drive meets the motor. The brushes can be replaced in 5 min. or less, says the company, and the motors can run 4 to 6 hrs./day for 4 to 6 weeks without requiring a brush change.
