Black oxide finishing systems contain no EPA-regulated metals

Birchwood Technologies offers the BC40 and BC100 TRU TEMP™ black oxide processing lines. Both tank lines are available in either 40- or 100-gal. capacities.

Satisfying Mil Spec DTL 13924D and AMS 2485, the process contains no EPA-regulated metals, so rinse waters generally can be sent to the sewer without waste treatment.

The tank systems, which use seven individual tanks, are constructed of either 10-ga. welded steel (epoxy painted) or welded polypropylene. They are supplied with all necessary heaters and plumbing connections.

With a 10- to 12-min. blackening time, the process forms a 0.000020-in.-thick black magnetite finish. Operating at about 200 degrees F, the process eliminates the hazards of a boiling tank.
