Brush filament offers aggression, flexibility

Osborn has introduced a crimped rectangular filament in silicon carbide and aluminum oxide on its ATB line of brushes, including FastCut composite wheels, Uni-Lok max-density disc brushes, Uni-Lok Turbo disc brushes, and Uni-Lok quick-change disc brushes.

According to the manufacturer, the filament blends aggression, flexibility, and conformability for a variety of finishing applications including automotive, off-road equipment, gear deburring, engine housing, aerospace, and turbine blades. It runs cooler than a regular rectangular filament and allows for faster feed than an unbridled round crimped filament, the company states.

The company offers crimped rectangular filaments in both silicon carbide and aluminum oxide. Silicon-carbide filament brushes are suitable for use on high-silica aluminum, ductile iron, and high-carbon steel. Aluminum-oxide filament brushes are designed for use on INCONEL®, HASTELLOY®, and RENE® alloys.
