Cylindrical grinding machines improved

Knuth Machine Tools USA has made improvements to the RSM series CNC cylindrical grinding machines. The multifunctional ID/OD grinding machines combine GPlus 450 CNC technology with rigid construction for precision and efficiency, according to the manufacturer.

The grinding machines feature strict alignment accuracy from the spindle head and solid supports. Available with in-process measurement, the series also includes separate hand wheels to allow manual grinding on the X and Y axes.

With a maximum grinding diameter of 12.5 in., a maximum center distance of 80 in., and infinitely variable spindle speeds, the series provides multigrinding cycles including oscillating cylindrical, face, multiple-plunge-cut plane, multiple-plunge-cut linear, plain shoulder, and linear shoulders.

The hydraulic tailstock operates via a foot pedal. The machines incorporate a maximum 12- by 1.5- by 5-in. wheel diameter, preloaded ball screws, and automatic central lubrication.
