Flap discs reduce aluminum grinding temperature

CS Unitec's TIGER SHARK-PLANTEX® elastic discs are specially designed for the grinding aluminum. Flexible for grinding curved surfaces and shapes, the discs provide reduced grinding temperature, high material removal, and no glazing with aluminum particles.

The flap discs feature a ceramic abrasive, aluminum oxide, imbedded on a cotton fabric. The backing plate is made from PLANTEX earth-friendly hemp compound and adjusts well to the shape of the workpiece. This heat-absorbent high-tech compound also reduces the temperature during grinding, which decreases melting of the aluminum. The disc automatically reduces in diameter (self-trimming) during grinding, which allows full usage of the abrasive fabric.

Available in diameters of 4 in., 4 in., 5in., and 7 in., and in grits of 40, 60, 80, and 120, the flap discs are suitable for speeds of 5,000 to 8,000 RPM and can run at a maximum of 13,300 RPM.
