Grinding machine maintains punching machine tools

TRUMPF has introduced the quicksharp® ITM grinding machine to maintain punching machine tools. The machine features updated electronic controls, a touch-sensitive keyboard, and LCD. A signal lamp indicates operating status, and operators can watch the grinding process through a front window.

The machine automates measurement and tool sharpening. Its control system monitors the cooling lubricant level, filter contamination, and grinding wheel contamination. The system also compensates for wear after each grinding operation, the company says.

The tool length measurement function has been integrated into the system. The regrind amount can be preselected in increments of 0.001 in., and integrated length measurement is performed before and after grinding.
