Grinding wheels provide high free-cutting capability - TheFabricator.com

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced Norton QUANTUM™ X creepfeed wheels. They incorporate a patented pore-induced construction; Norton Quantum ceramic abrasive; and a strong, patented bond.

The wheels are suitable for low-, medium-, and high-force applications on heat-sensitive, hard-to-grind INCONEL® alloy, titanium, and aerospace alloys.

According to the manufacturer, the wheels deliver a 50 percent reduction in grinding time, along with a 20 percent reduction in power usage. They feature long wheel life combined with fast grind cycle time, the company reports.

The wheels are available in blank stock in a type 01 straight wheel in six sizes from 16 by 1 by 5 in. to 20 by 5 by 8 in. Unfinished blank stock wheels also are available in various abrasives and grit sizes and can be made with customized dimensions.
