Polyester coatings engineered for industry-specific applications

PPG Industries’ coil and building products group has introduced DURAFORM™ coatings, a line of next-generation polyester coil coatings engineered for specific market applications. The line comprises AP coatings for appliances, BP coatings for building products, CP coatings for consumer products, DR coatings for doors, HV coatings for HVAC components, LF coatings for lighting fixtures, and TR coatings for transportation equipment.

According to the company, the polyester coatings are engineered with a proprietary star-shaped polymer that provides 10 percent higher solids, better hardness, and increased flexibility. The polymers cluster in a tight formation, giving the coatings superior crosslink characteristics that cause the coatings to bond strongly to metal substrates, the manufacturer reports.
