Stainless steel weld cleaning system delivers passivation, metal surface finishing

The TIG Brush® stainless steel weld cleaning system from Ensitech Inc. combines electricity, heat, and chemistry to deliver weld cleaning, passivation, and metal surface finishing. Its proprietary conductive brush applies cleaning fluid to the work surface, producing an electrochemical cleaning action with fast, effective results, says the company.

Independent testing by Gauge Industrial and Environmental using a scanning electron microscope, as well as immersion testing by The Welding Institute (TWI) to ISO CD18069 standards, has shown that cleaning with the high-temperature brush and fluids removes detectable oxides from the weld zone. The process returns the surface layer to chromium levels that are the same as or better than those in the unwelded surface, the manufacturer reports.
