Energy-industry software predicts, prioritizes equipment failure

GE has introduced Proficy® SmartSignal® Shield 4.0 software for the oil and gas and power industries. It is designed to provide early detection of problems in large equipment to prevent surprise equipment failure. It also offers diagnostic guidance and prioritized actionable intelligence.

The software's diagnostic algorithms combine observations on multiple individual sensors to pinpoint failure effects. Beyond vibration and thermal analyses, the software models all data on all critical rotating and nonrotating equipment. It monitors equipment automatically and continuously.

Access to diagnostics and rules allows users to understand and adjust the software based on their own expertise.
