Self-shielded, flux-cored welding wire designed for X80 pipeline applications

Hobart Brothers offers Fabshield X80 self-shielded, flux-cored welding wire for use in X80 pipeline applications. According to the manufacturer, the wire creates welds with high tensile strength and Charpy V-notch (CVN) impact values from 107 ft.-lbs. at -20 degrees F to 96 ft.-lbs. at -40 degrees F.

Classified under AWS A5.29, class E81T8-Ni2 J, the wire provides a typical tensile strength of 94,000 PSI and a yield strength of 84,000 PSI. It is available in 5/64-in.-dia. in a variety of packages and weights.

The wire features a fast-freezing slag that is nearly self-peeling, making it suitable for welding in all positions and helping to reduce postweld cleaning time. It can be used for either single- or multipass welding on fillet, lap, or deep-groove butt welds, especially those exposed to low temperatures.
