CNC lathes require no CNC programming, G-code knowledge

Kaast Machine Tools Inc. offers CNC lathes with large spindle bores (6, 9, 12, or 14 in.) and double chuck systems. Swings are available from 18 to 51 in. with lengths from 40 to 244 in. The spindle motor range is 7.5 to 60 HP. The user does not need to have previous knowledge of CNC programming or G-code.

The headstock is manufactured from thick-wall and heavily ribbed casting to provide a smooth and quiet turning machine, the company reports. All gears and shafts are hardened and ground. The main spindle is precision-machined and -ground from a large, one-piece forging, allowing spindle speeds up to 3,100 RPM.

The bed is made of high-grade Meehanite® cast iron to absorb cutting forces and dampen vibrations. The bedways are hardened and precision-ground (HRC 55 to 60). All slide ways and drive elements are lubricated automatically.
