Insert's clamp design reduces vibrations

Kennametal has introduced Beyond Shield™ inserts. They combine a clamping system with new superhard PCBN grades for machining of cast iron. The clamping system allows smaller inserts to perform in the same applications as larger inserts.

The three-point clamp design applies clamping force toward the front of the insert to help reduce vibrations that can lead to cracking and failure. The carbide-clad clamp resists wear from chip flow.
