2-D laser cutting machine features 5-kW disk laser

TRUMPF's TruLaser 5030 fiber laser features the 5-kW TruDisk 5001, making it the highest-powered solid-state 2-D laser cutting machine on the market, according to the company. It can cut mild steel up to 1 in. and, depending on material type and thickness, reach cutting speeds up to five times faster than is possible on a comparable CO2 machine, the company states.
The machine cuts mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, as well as nonferrous metals such as copper and brass up to 0.4 in. thick.
