500-W fiber laser suitable for cutting metals up to 0.12 in. thick

JK Lasers, part of the GSI Group, has added the JK500FL to its range of fiber lasers. With features including 500-W CW output power, single-mode beam quality, and patented back reflection protection, the fiber laser can process a variety of materials with high accuracy and at a quick rate, the company states.

The laser is suitable for cutting metals up to 0.12 in. thick, which accounts for about 80 percent of metal cutting, according to the manufacturer. It is supplied in a water-cooled, rack-mounted format.

Designed to be a modular system, the laser is compatible with the company's standard fiber laser process tools for cutting and welding, including the scan head system.
