Laser cutting software makes efficient use of leftover plate

Power-Tech has introduced Drop & Cut software for Eagle laser cutting machines from the iNspire and eVision lines. It is designed to make efficient use of leftover plate for inclusion in other items.

The system features a high-definition camera mounted inside the machine that monitors the cutting area. During machining, the operator can monitor, position, and adjust the specific section of the sheet on-screen with the touch of a finger and add virtual geometry of the workpiece on the remnants of the metal from the touch panel. With this method, the operator defines a new cutter geometry on the material remnants so a new workpiece can be produced.

Through continuous live broadcast, an outline contour of the workpiece can be made on remnant metal from the previous process.
