Laser cutting system reduces power consumption

Fonon Corp. has updated its TITAN™ flat-bed, multipurpose laser cutting machine, integrating multiple subsystems and introducing several changes to help minimize floor space requirements, reduce power consumption, and increase productivity.

Designed to consume less than 5 percent of the power required by common CO2 laser systems, the TITAN FX turnkey laser cutting system has an integrated laser source and heat exchanger. Its modular laser is available in 1-, 2-, or 4-kW increments, allowing users to increase the laser cutting power up to 8 kW. Users can adapt the field-upgradable system to changes in their production environment.

The machine can adjust dynamically to slight variations in thickness across the metal plate. Its sealed feedback sensor allows operation in harsh industrial environments. The unit’s frictionless, direct-drive, linear-motion platform; software-controlled orthogonality; and lightweight bridge enable high acceleration and on-the-fly cutting capabilities.

The gantry can be calibrated at the press of a button to help ensure the material is in alignment, free of seizures and unplanned machine failures. Power wattage upgrades to the laser do not require a specialized field engineer.
