Laser system has enhanced cutting speeds

The Lightning High-Dynamic laser system from Salvagnini America Inc. is the focus of a cutting and processing system designed to take maximum advantage of the enhanced cutting speeds attainable with the newest generation of laser sources.

The unit is managed by the company's MICROMach controller and has tight, integrated control of the laser processing and system manipulation. The unit cuts a maximum sheet size of 120 in. by 60 in. by 1,600 lbs. and a maximum sheet thickness of 3/4-in. mild steel.

Other features include linear motors in the X, Y, and Z axes coupled with independent, automatic focal adjustment; positioning speeds of 11,800 IPM with 3 g acceleration in the X-Y axes; and a heavy-duty, 120-in. by 60-in. worktable on the X-Y axes.
