Laser tube cutter handles diameters from 0.008 to 0.98 in.

Amada Miyachi America Inc. has updated its Sigma laser tube cutter, which can be used with both microsecond fiber and femtosecond disk lasers. The new cutting system provides high edge quality, making it suitable for medical device applications, including a variety of tubes and stents.

With 3- and 4-axis motion options and the ability to cut tubes with diameters from 0.008 to 0.98 in., the machine can be used for wet and dry cutting. It features an automated tube loader option and a 22-in. GUI on a swing arm.

High-speed, direct-drive, integrated X and theta lathe axes stages help users maximize throughput, according to the company. The tube cutter can be configured to the specific cutting application for both on- and off-axis cut geometries. The lathe stages are mounted directly to a granite base, while the vertical and horizontal stages are mounted to a granite gantry secured to the granite base.
