Power tool removes laser cutting machine slag

May 9, 2006

The TSC 1 portable power tool from TRUMPF Inc. removes slag from the slats of laser cutting machines.

If slag builds up on the pallets it impairs the quality of the pieces produced. Instead of replacing support slats, and operator can move the self-propelled tool across the entire strip width with light hand guidance and remove all of the slag that has accumulated on the row. Using the tool, an operator can clean a standard-size pallet in about 20 minutes.

Two spring-loaded roller pairs, powered by a 1,200-W motor, enable the automatic carriage to move. The roller pairs adapt to slag up to 1 in. thick and shatter it during the forward movement.
