Endpoint laser control helps produce uniform weld penetration

Prima Power Laserdyne’s newly developed SmartRamp™ provides consistent endpoint control during laser welding to help eliminate areas where potential weld failure can occur. This feature of the S94P control, which controls operation of the 795 and 430BD multiaxis fiber laser systems, produces uniform weld penetration along the entire length of the weld.

The feature controls laser parameters in conjunction with motion of the beam, eliminating the occurrence of a visible endpoint of the weld. Metallographic analysis of welds produced with this feature showed a consistent absence of porosity or any other welding defects at the end of the weld, the company reports.
