Welding training system upgraded

Lincoln Electric has released an upgrade program for the VRTEX® 360 virtual reality arc welding training system.

The upgrade package includes a new motorsports garage virtual environment, filled with race cars. Students can weld with the POWER MIG® 350MP wire feeder/welding machine. To promote welding safety, a Mobiflex® 200-M mobile welding fume extractor provides weld fume control in the simulated environment.

The instructor toolset has been extended to include a panning view function. This enhances the instructor’s ability to view a weldment as the student welds, allowing the instructor to coach the student better on proper technique.

After welding a pass, the user can see if each defect and discontinuity was within acceptable standards (passed) or not (failed). The acceptable standards are known as scoring modules, based on AWS D1.1 or ASME.

Other new additions include a virtual bend test for multipass pipe and groove welds and a virtual bend test certificate upon successful completion.
