Band saw blades suitable for interrupted cutting applications

The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced the Versatix™ MP line of multipurpose band saw blades. They feature a new tooth design that is suitable for interrupted cutting applications in structural steels, tubes, and small solids. The patent-pending design dissipates heat during cutting to help minimize tooth breakage and maximize saw blade life.

The blades feature triple-tempered M-42 cobalt high-speed steel teeth, electron-beam-welded to a fatigue-resistant alloy steel backing strip. Blades measuring up to 1 in. use the patented bimetal unique® technology bonding process.

Sizes and thicknesses range from 3/4 by 0.035 in. to 2 5/8 by 0.063 in. in positive-rake pitches from 2-3 to 6-10P. The blades also are available in coil lengths, including 150 ft. for 1-1/2- and 2-in. sizes and 250 ft. for 3/4- to 1-1/4-in. sizes, and welded-to-length on 2 5/8- by 0.063-in. blades.
