CNC tool grinding software simplifies manufacturing of complex-geometry machine tools

Num Corp. has released version 3.8 of its Numroto tool grinding software package. The software automates multihelical and variable-flute grinding and provides a new form cutter function for profile inserts. It is available as an update to existing users of the software.

The software runs on the manufacturer’s Flexium+ CNC system, which uses subnano interpolation to help ensure high-quality surfaces and short cycle times to allow fast 5-axis movement.

The company reports that the software can handle the complex path calculations necessary to create multihelix flutes. Users can use the software to define the core path geometry of flutes on end mills easily and accurately, states the manufacturer.
