Horizontal machining center handles tough materials
The HC 400 horizontal machining center from Doosan is designed for OEMs and job shops. Its Meehanite® cast-iron bed, large linear roller guideway, and 10,000-RPM inline spindle enable heavy cuts on tough materials.
The machine is equipped with an automatic pallet changer featuring twin tapped pallets. Each pallet measures 15.7 by 15.7 in. and can handle a maximum load of 882 lbs. All axes are driven by high-precision, double-nut ball screws supported on both ends by angular contact thrust bearings. This double-pretension design increases positioning repeatability. Axis travels are 23.62 in. in X, 22.05 in. in Y, and 22.24 in. in Z. Maximum cutting feed rate is 787 IPM, with rapid traverses to 1,574 IPM.
The 35-HP inline spindle is designed for high stock removal and deep drilling operations. Through-spindle coolant and an oil-cooled spindle chiller maintain a constant temperature at high speeds to help reduce thermal growth and increase cutting accuracy.
The 60-pocket, cam-type, swing-arm automatic tool changer has random-access operation to help ensure instant tool availability, even with short cutting cycles. The cam-actuated arm provides tool changes in 1.5 sec. tool-to-tool and 4 sec. chip-to-chip.
