Jaw nuts, keys perform workholding in high-speed machining applications

February 10, 2014

Manufactured from 4140 heat-treated steel, jaw nuts, T-nuts, and keys from Dillon Mfg. Inc. provide wear resistance, impact resistance, high tensile strength, and extended jaw nut life. They are available to fit commonly used power chucks from 6 to 24 in. dia.

The products are suitable for workholding applications, such as high-speed machining. Using an extra set of jaw nuts, operators can convert a chuck into a quick-change chuck, reducing jaw change time 60 percent because the operator can preassemble the chuck for the next operation while the current one is being machined.
