Radial arm drills offer drilling capacity to 3.94 in.

Knuth Machine Tools has introduced the R series of radial arm drills. They offer 1.3- to 3.94-in. drilling capacity with 32- to 124-in. spindle-to-column distance.

The R-60 offers an infinitely variable spindle gearbox from 38 to 2,000 RPM. The R-100 model has a 22-step direct gear drive drill head with 8 to 1,000 RPM. An individually adjustable, multidisc-reversing overload clutch on the main spindle reduces high torque forces when the spindle is reversed to help increase spindle drive gear life.

An adjustable drilling depth stop helps improve hole-to-hole depth accuracy, says the company. Three electric motors are included: main spindle motor, horizontal arm lift motor, and coolant motor. The R-80 and R-100 drills also come standard with an additional drill head positioning motor.

The gear sets have oil bath-submerged lubrication, while the rest of the machine has a central lubrication system. An automatic positive electromagnetic lock on the horizontal arm helps increase operator safety if the arm is not locked before drilling.
