Three-fluted drill introduced

Mapal Dr. Kress KG offers the Tritan-Drill three-fluted drill for use on a variety of steel, cast materials, and nonferrous metals. Its geometry is designed for optimum chip removal and a low cutting pressure, producing rounder bores and reducing burr formation, says the company.

The drill can produce 45 percent more bores than a twin-fluted drill when machining a cylinder head made of GJL 250, according to the manufacturer. It is available with a diameter of 0.19 to 0.79 in. in designs up to 8xD.
