Turbine end mills offer barrel-shape design

Emuge Corp. has introduced new solid-carbide turbine end mills for milling turbine blades, impellers, blisks, and other complex 5-axis components. The end mill line features a variety of styles, including tapered ball nose, barrel-shape designs, and tool selections from the company’s Top-Cut, Tinox-Cut, Multi-Cut, and indexable insert tooling programs.

The barrel-shaped oval form end mills are suitable for finishing high-strength materials. The oval form simulates the attributes of ball-nose end mills with diameters from 5.91 to 7.48 in. to provide double the axial cut provided by a standard ball-nose end mill, according to the company. They are offered with three and four flutes with aluminum-chromium coating and a form tolerance of +/-0.0004 in.
