Motor-powered caster moves loads up to 6,000 lbs.

Caster Concepts Inc. has introduced what it says is the first motorized industrial caster. The Drive Caster™ integrates an electric motor with an industrial caster to create a single unit that can be added to carts and racks.

With a mere flip of a switch, operators can engage the ¼- or ½-HP motor to move loads up to 6,000 lbs. at up to 5 MPH. Adding a second motorized caster doubles the load capacity that can be moved and enables tank-style steering, with each caster pushing in opposite directions to turn.
