Wheelchair lift power unit suited to material handling, packaging applications

Butler Mobility has announced that its power lift, used to operate its inclined platform wheelchair lift, can be used for applications in material lifting, low-speed mixing, packaging, conveyors, and batch or continuous processes.

The unit has a rigid, double-decker chassis design that includes thick aluminum plates and durable fasteners. Its brake holds the motor without power, and the gearbox is sealed. The unit's chain drive is rated for more than a 6,000-lb. capacity.

Controls allow the system to operate on low-current 24-VDC power supply. With the PLC and expansion module wired to three front-panel connectors, there are three switch circuits: forward, stop, and reverse.

An emergency-stop switch circuit passes through two of the connectors and disconnects the AC drive from the motor, releasing the brakes to hold the motor. With UL-listed electrical components and a battery backup for at least five minutes of full-load operation, the power unit can be used in a variety of industries.
