Precomponent blanks help reduce customer swarf

Ovako has developed a line of precomponents machined from steel bar in various finishes and sizes. The material can be supplied to customers close to the final component size, helping to reduce transport costs and ensure that most of the swarf generated in machining remains at the steel mill.

The company produces the precomponents to close tolerances from hot-rolled, peeled, ground, and drawn bar, available in a variety of sizes and steel grades. Long or short runs can be accommodated to facilitate production optimization and short customer lead-times.

Plain, sawed-off, chamfered, and center-drilled blanks are available, as are blanks with faced ends. Heat treatment is an integral part of the manufacturing process.
