Tablets offer two years of anticorrosion protection

August 27, 2013

Cortec® has introduced Cor-Pak® Tablets, a corrosion preventive in pill form. The pills provide a dry method of protecting metals within a package. Using vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor (VpCI®) technology, the tablets provide more than two years of corrosion protection for carbon and stainless steel, aluminum, copper, silver, brass, and solder. The tablets are free of nitrite, phosphate, and silicate, making them safe to use and apply.

The user drops a few tablets into a bag, box, or package with the metal to be protected. After the corrosion inhibitor vaporizes, it attaches to all metal surfaces, reaching even recessed areas. The protective monomolecular layer does not need to be removed before processing or operation.

If opening the package disturbs the layer, it will be replenished by continuous vapor protection upon reclosing. The corrosion inhibitor layer does not interfere with the operation of electrical and electronic components.
