Laser cutting robot offers high cutting path accuracy

The new Motoman® MC2000 Master Cut robot is designed with high rigidity and precision drives to provide path accuracy for laser cutting small holes and sharp corners. Path accuracy can be within 0.004 in., depending on the application.

Formcut software automatically generates the ideal path based on user-specified geometry. Circle, rectangle, ellipse, pentagon, and hexagon shapes are supported with simplified definition of shape and size rotation from a single programmed point. The cut motion start and overlap, robot speed, timing options, and corner radii are defined in a single cut.

The robot features a 110.3-lb. payload, suitable for a remote laser welding head. When used with a standard welding or cutting laser head, the robot offers higher path accuracy, the company states. The robot has a 80.2-in. horizontal reach, a 124.6-in. vertical reach, and a ±0.003-in. repeatability. It is floor-mounted and has brakes on all axes.
