Fiber cutting disks allow constant supply of new cutting edges

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced Norton NorZon® BlueFire™ F826 fiber disks for use on stainless, superalloys, steel cast iron, and high-pressure applications. They feature a blend of patented zirconia alumina and ceramic alumina abrasive with a microfracturing capability that allows a constant supply of new cutting edges.

The disks also are available with the company's tool-free, twist-on and off Speed-Change fasteners. Available in 5- to 7-in. sizes with grits from 25 to 60, the disks lock to standard backup pads.

The AVOS (allows view of surface) style of disk features a patented see-through design that allows uninterrupted cutting. The scooped holes create airflow to pull swarf away from the grinding zone, which cools cutting. A 5-degree angle backup pad allows greater use of the disk surface and prevents gouging of the workpiece.
