Right-angle abrasive discs feature engineered grain and improved resin bond system

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced Norton Vortex Rapid Finish nonwoven right-angle discs for the metal fabricating industry. They feature an engineered grain and improved resin bond system to provide aggressive, fast stock removal and a fine finish, the company says.

The discs remove light welds, blend stainless steel — including removing weld marks and splatter, small flashings, and parting lines — deburr, and clean. The discs prepare surfaces before coatings or plating, perform light cleaning, and remove blemishes after welding stainless.

The discs feature tight, unitized construction; a thick nylon web; and a porous construction that provides cool cutting. They are manufactured with a new curing process and bond technology to result in consistent performance from first contact to stub size for improved part quality with no smearing, the manufacturer reports.

The abrasive is an engineered aluminum oxide, grit size is 100 to 120 with a medium grade, and the backing is type 27 fiberglass.
