Laser beam analysis system designed for enhanced data baseline accuracy

Ophir-Spiricon has introduced the BeamGage™ laser beam analysis system. It is based on UltraCal™, the company's patented baseline correction algorithm that helped establish the ISO 11146-3 standard for beam measurement accuracy. The system guarantees the data baseline (zero-point reference) is accurate to one-eighth of a digital count on a pixel-by-pixel basis, the company states.

With the system's BeamMaker™ beam simulator, the user can derive a beam profile by specifying the mode, size, width, height, intensity, angle, and noise content and then analyze expected results and confirm that the BeamGage system will measure the beam accurately even before the experiment is constructed.

The Auto Aperture function allows for fast application setup. The software automatically adjusts to maximize the dynamic range of the lumens on the camera array and to keep the beam close to, but not at, saturation levels. Beam sampling preparation is eliminated.

The laser beam analysis system can be configured for simplicity or to run the full range of technical features. It provides numerous quantitative calculations to help ensure accurate profiling. Algorithms are provided for power/energy, spatial results, divergence, Gaussian fit, and histograms. A complete set of calculations also provides 1-D and 2-D tophat measurements.
